Insider tips Stuttgart
What would be an insider tip that I describe before the tour
Most visitors who come to Stuttgart are keen to visit the Porsche or Mercedes-Benz Museum, as these are regarded as the calling cards of the local automotive companies. But only a few visitors have the opportunity to visit the Porsche House on the Killesberg, as well as the Daimler Memorial in Bad Cannstatt. In combination with a taste of Cannstatt mineral water in the immediate vicinity, behind the Kurhaus (doesn’t taste good, but puts you in a good mood), a visit to the Café Restaurant Kursaal rounds off this excursion. Kursaal Bad Cannstatt For the visitors from the region, or the Stuttgart specialists, visitors who think they know the city particularly well, I’m sure I have something in store, or have you ever heard of the so-called “Pönitentiarhaus” in the west of Stuttgart, one of the first buildings in the west ever, built in 1846 to plans by the architect Theodor Wilhelm Landauer, who traveled to London, Turin and Geneva to pick up ideas for the new Stuttgart “jail”. The “Kanonenhäusle” on the Gänsheide, which was built because the church bells, which were normally rung to alert the “fire department”, could not be heard during a major fire in Esslingen at the beginning of the 18th century due to a storm. To prevent this from happening to the people of Stuttgart, they built this little house above the city so that in the event of a fire, the cannons installed here on a terrace could be fired, as they would be heard despite a storm. I have other suggestions in store that I won’t mention now, but if you know three of them, we’ll go for an espresso at my expense.
